The Novokirghiz horses came from Old Kirghiz (have Mongolian horse blood in them) crossed with the Russian Don horse and the English Thoroughbred. In type and comformation they closely resemble the Russian Don horse. Novokirghiz have a medium-sized clean-cut head with low neck, well-defined withers, straight and level back and heavily muscled croup. The top-line is level. Legs are clean-cut with tendons well defined.
